Project title: Molecular self-assembly


There is a considerable interest in self-assembling semiconducting nanowires (organic or organometallic molecules) that can be used as low-cost and high-performance building blocks for device fabrication. In addition, the structural tailorability and multifunctionality of molecules attract huge attention in molecular electronics. Recent advances in molecular electronics have revealed that luminescent organic and organometallic complexes can be used to fabricate opto-electronic devices. We thus envisage that it may be feasible to develop self-assembly molecules for the incorporation in switching device. We focus on various self-assembled organic/organo-metallic molecules for the construction electronic and opto-electronic devices.
