Fabrication and optimization of organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices (Prof C S Lee)
The long-term availability of fossil fuels and contamination they caused are critical challenges faced by the whole world. For environmental protection and energy conservation, the search for low-cost, renewable and clean energy sources has been an essential task. Among various renewable energy sources, solar energy is safe, sustainable and pollution-free.
Organic photovoltaic (OPV) device is a new generation of low-cost solar cell which can be fabricated in large area on flexible substrate. However, both the efficiency and operation stability of organic solar cells are still not high enough for wide commercial applications. This project aim at developing approaches for enhancing performance of organic solar cell via various interface engineering approaches or smart device configuration designs.
